3.4.6.1 Configurations
The spray set-up is a matched pair of air cap and fluid cap used to determine the capacity and spray pattern. Spray set-ups are interchangeable, and can be assembled with a range of different nozzle bodies, spray guns and other accessories.
Eight different fluid cap sizes are available, and by adjusting the air and liquid pressures a wide variety of flow rates and spray patterns can be achieved. In an external mix configuration (air caps model P41, P42 and P43) or siphon (air caps model S11, S12, S14 and S 15), the atomising air can be used to carry viscous liquids like grease or adhesives. Note: excessive atomising air pressure may cause backflow in the fluid line in certain configurations.
Water droplet size (nominal): down to 20 microns.
Flow rate: from 0.05 to 280 L/ hour.
Fluid pressures: from negative ("siphon" setup) to 4 Bar (50 psi ; 400 kPa) with water.
Atomising air pressure nominally from 0.5 to 3 Bar (7 to 50 psi ; 40 to 300 kPa).
